Getting Wasted is Overrated

When I was a freshman in high school, somehow I convinced my mom to let me throw a keg party at our house. Seriously, she agreed to get a keg of Bud for a bunch of teenagers. I don't know what the hell she was thinking, but I was a pretty good con man back then. I invited 30 friends from school and, of course, about 200 showed up, and the house got trashed.

After that incident, my mom said, "No more!" She realized that not only was she catering to a lot of young kids in an inappropriate fashion, but she also could have been held responsible if one of those kids had been hit by a train on the way home.

Later in my high school years, I wanted to have a cast party after one of the drama club shows I was in. Mom said, "No problem, but NO BOOZE." Being a senior at that point, I was pretty ticked off, almost embarrassed. But we had the party anyway, and it was a blast!

I learned a valuable lesson that night. Booze doesn't make the party — the people do. The same applies for the adult business. Sure, you'll see me out on occasion downing a few Jack and Cokes, but when I think about the times I was fucked up compared to the times I had fun being sober, I really gotta conclude that mom was right.

The problem is, many of our wonderful adult stars didn't have my mom teaching them about how to have a good time. In fact, many of them obviously have no decent training on how to behave. From drugs to booze to sniffing fucking Clorox, there are a lot of stars who feel as though they need to get banged up to function on a daily basis.

The sad thing is this industry doesn't offer enough support to help the average porn chick kick that nasty side. In all actuality, this industry turns a blind eye to the troubles of performers because most people are just thankful they can get a girl to show up and do some of the things she does to help put money in their pockets.

It's not just drugs and alcohol; disease control is good but could be much better. Money management, health care, responsibility and loyalty are among many other issues that are always ignored and rarely addressed in this industry.

The point of this rant is just to say it's OK to party once in a while, but maybe it's time to put some value into yourself as a person without the added chemicals that often lead to poor decisions.
