" Shooting regularly is one key to learning quickly "

Recently, XBIZ World magazine asked a group of industry leaders, "What advice would you give to someone just starting out?"

Here's what they had to say:

"Try to make quality videos or content by studying your competition, but don't copy them. Make something new and different with the same (or even better) quality. New approaches sell units, while the same old thing over and over again doesn't. And make porn that has personality and energy. A lot of people send me demos that put me to sleep."
— Paul Interlandi, President, Freedom Distributing/Arrow Productions

"The money does not flow as easily as it once did eight or nine years ago, but it is still there for the making. These days, the ones who make money and enjoy what they do — and stick around this industry for a while — are the ones who educate themselves. My advice? Read, ask questions, do your homework, keep your mind and your ears open, be patient and don't get discouraged.
— Hone Lynn, Sunny Dollars, Director of Marketing and Webmaster Relations

"For the new person in the industry, I would consider focusing on one area of the business but learning about the entire business at the same time. This will give perspective and help them succeed. Also, cost control and not growing too fast will help reduce the chance of failure."
— Gary Kremen, Chairman, CEO, Grant Media

"Three words: Do Your Research. The adult industry is a serious business, not a get-rich-quick scheme. The gold rush days may be over, but there are still plenty of opportunities to make a lot of money if you use your head and work hard. Get to know the market and success will follow."
— Barry &Quot;Blackdog&Quot; Fruitman, CEO, WebcamCash

"Shooting regularly is one key to learning quickly — and if you can get paid to learn, you have it made! Focus on what's real. Whatever it is that stirs your soul is what you should shoot. Also, spend time with the talent and ask questions about what they like sexually and who they'd like to work with."
— Patrick Collins, Owner, Elegant Angel

"The best advice I could give to someone starting out would be not to follow the pack. Keep your eyes open and really look to offer a product and or service that there is a real need for. There are huge opportunities within the B2B aspect of this industry. Always be friendly, open and professional with people you meet. Don't let ego get in the way. The most important piece of advice would be to never give up, there is a ton of money still to made in this industry. Work hard and keep your eye on the ball. Good things sometimes take time."
— Mark Hurson, President, Gallery Traffic Service

"First and foremost, persistence is the key to success. Things sometimes take time to get established, and often you need to try many approaches to find out what works for you. Once you do find something that works, replicate this successful approach. Look at what others are doing in your area and ask yourself how you could improve on what they are doing. And finally, promote NicheWealth."
— Mike Almeida, President, NicheWealth

"Don't assume you're dumber than everyone else. The many facets and complexities of this industry may seem daunting at first, but as is the case with most new endeavors, if you put in a little time and effort, you'll find yourself playing this game surprisingly quickly. Secondly, Don't assume you're smarter than everyone else. The biggest winners in this industry don't have MBAs, they have balls. If you're too smart to ask for advice (and actually listen), you're likely to repeat the mistakes the rest of us 'idiots' made four years ago."
— Aly Drummond, Webmaster Relations, The Best Porn
