What's A Real Job?

Anyone who works in the adult industry has heard these words, either spoken to them, about them, or about someone else in the industry: "When are you going to get a real job?"

Most people don't consider working at home to be a "real" job. Why is that?

People who work outside the home, whether in an office or at Burger King, seem to think that those of us who work from a computer in our houses are not really working. After all, aren't we just goofing off, looking at porn all day?

We could say that it's just jealousy, and in most cases, we would be correct. We have no commute, we have no dress code, and we get to set our own hours. We can walk away from the computer at any time, run an errand, grab a soda, smoke a cigarette, and what's with all the porn?

But we make money. In some cases, we make a great deal of money. How is it that we can make thousands of dollars just sitting in front of a computer screen day in and day out?

We tend to be over-achievers, for the most part. Something inside of our brains keeps quietly saying the words, "9-5" over and over again. Most of us don't want that. We like our little corner of the world in cyberspace, and we aren't ready nor willing to give it up.

We work hard to achieve the goals we have set for ourselves. Adult webmasters are by and large one of the most competitive groups of people on the planet. The fact that at any time we could be working at Wal-Mart for minimum wage is a great motivational tool to keep us working hard.

In the eyes of friends and family, however, even if we're raking in the money to keep the household expenses paid and something to put by, it seems that since we're always home, they shouldn't have to do any of the housework. Nor are they seemingly willing to believe how much work goes into building and maintaining a website, much less the marketing. To them, many times, what we do can be best classified as a hobby.

How does one get those who are looking in from the outside to realize that we are working just as hard as they do at their 9-5? Sadly, you don't. Most of them, even if you demonstrate and offer to teach them how to do what you do, will just shake their heads and mutter something about having a real job.

The trick is to find satisfaction in what you're doing. Don't let yourself be brought down by folks who don't believe that your job could possibly be more stressful, exciting, or as real as their own.

You know full well how hard it is and how long you work at making the money. You know that sitting at home is not all fun and games. And you know that if you stopped working, the money would stop coming.

Adult webmasters have real jobs. We have rewarding careers. And we can say with great pride that when it comes down to it, we'd really rather work from home than work anywhere else. The money can be better, and the job much more rewarding.

Just don't make us get a haircut.

To Cloud or Not to Cloud, That Is the Question

Let’s be honest. It just sounds way cooler to say your business is “in the cloud,” right? Buzzwords make everything sound chic and relevant. In fact, someone uninformed might even assume that any hosting that is not in the cloud is inferior. So what’s the truth?

The Perils of Relying on ChatGPT for Legal Advice

It surprised me how many people admitted that they had used ChatGPT or similar services either to draft legal documents or to provide legal advice. “Surprised” is probably an understatement of my reaction to learning about this, as “horrified” more accurately describes my emotional response.
