You’re going to need a pass. If you haven’t yet registered, you can register there. This is a must have, no two ways about it.
You’re going to be in need of some essentials. Ladies know what this means for them, because it never fails….
Bring hand sanitizer. Use it often. Every time there’s a trade show, several people manage to come back with a cold. Help prevent this.
Sunblock. I am NOT kidding, people, trust me and my deathly pale alabaster skin. I don’t care if you think you’re going to be inside all day every day. Bring it. (I use Coppertone SPF 50+)
Remember to pack all of the little necessities of life. This is the bane of my traveling. I always forget something and end up having to make a midnight run to the local drugstore or supermarket for a replacement for the toothpaste I left at home. I’m talking deodorant, (PLEASE!), toothbrush and toothpaste, hair brush or comb, gel or hairspray, and any other common toiletry item you can think to bring.
Bring your business cards! Matter of fact, stop reading this right now and go put the cards in your carry on. If you don’t have business cards, either make some or be ready with a notepad and pen. Carry the notepad and pen with you all day and all night until it’s bedtime. I’m serious.
Pack all questionable items in the LUGGAGE that you check in at the curb. I’m talking dildos, vibrators, whips, miscellaneous gags and plugs, and any dandy little toy giveaways. They have to check your luggage, but unless it’s on the list of stuff that the Federal government says you can’t carry, it won’t be confiscated. However, the embarrassment of having them do a manual check of your carry on bags due to interesting shapes on the x-ray is something you’ll want to avoid.
Bring enough socks and underwear to last you for an extra day than you think you’ll need. Going for four nights? Bring five pairs of socks and undies. Just trust me on this one.
Just because t-shirts are given away all over the place does not mean that you can’t bring some of the stuff you already own. Just be sure to leave enough room in your suitcase or bring an empty duffel bag in which to carry home all of your loot.
Remember: if you’re bringing a digital camera, bring extra batteries, the memory cards, (if necessary), and/or your USB cable for loading the pictures onto your laptop. You did remember to bring your laptop, right?
Do NOT do the whole George Carlin bit about airline safety while at the airport. Don’t ask me why; just trust me on that one.
If you’re bringing your cellphone, please also remember to bring your cellphone’s charger or you’re not going to be taking many calls.
Remember: you are not your post count.
Please remember to bring all required medications with you. I am serious about this one. It’s happened before that someone forgot to pack needed meds, and it’s not a happy time. (No, this does not include illegal drugs. They may be necessary for you, but the government official who might catch you will think the only necessary thing for you is jail time.)

Last item to keep in mind: While we are all there to have a good time, we are also there to do business. Take some time to stop by all the booths and learn about the various companies who are there. You’ll be glad you did.
