Doc Johnson's T.V. Takeover

In March, Doc Johnson picked up roles on two Showtime series that included driving the plot of a three-episode arc of “House of Lies.”

The North Hollywood, Calif.-based manufacturer was features on two episodes of the current season of “Shameless,” Showtime’s hit series starring William H. Macy, Joan Cusack and Emmy Rossum.

The House of Lies cast and crew shot on-location at Doc Johnson’s North Hollywood facility in the fall of 2012, shooting in production areas and the main office.

In “Shameless” episode four, “The Helpful Gallaghers,” characters Sheila (Joan Cusack) and Jody (Zach McGowan) are elated to have just become parents/guardians to a newborn baby boy. But along with the joys of parenting an infant, their once lively sex life has gone from “active” to “nonexistent.” In order to bring a little spice back into the bedroom and revive their sexual intimacy, Sheila suggests the use of sex toys. At first, she tempts Jody with the iconic Doc Johnson Hard Rammer.

“Everyone here at Doc Johnson is thrilled with the exposure we’ve gotten through Showtime’s top show, ‘Shameless,’” says Victoria Bowman-Steinour, director of marketing and public relations. “When the series approached us last year for product and let us know that we would be featured in several episodes of Season 3, we were incredibly flattered. We’re looking forward to seeing how the storyline unravels as this season continues.”

The network ratings for “Shameless” topped 3.8 million viewers in 2012. Ratings for the current season have reported 2.6 million viewers for recent episodes.

Doc Johnson then appeared in the eighth episode of the current season of “House of Lies” in which the consultants work with an iconic adult toy company, presented as Doc Johnson, to help maintain their commitment to American manufacturing.

The House of Lies cast and crew shot on-location at Doc Johnson’s North Hollywood facility in the fall of 2012, shooting in production areas and the main office.

Adam Brody guest stars in the three-episode arc as the adult manufacturer’s young CEO determined to usher his family’s legacy into a bright and successful future.

“It was an amazing experience, having the House of Lies crew at Doc Johnson,” Doc Johnson COO Chad Braverman said. “The skill and professionalism demonstrated by the crew was a true testament to their craft. The cast was incredibly gracious and friendly during filming and we hope that they enjoyed their time the spent at Doc Johnson as much as we enjoyed having them. American manufacturing is at our core, and we are honored to participate in a story that tackles the struggles American manufacturers face.”

In episode eight of “House of Lies,” titled “Wonders of the World,” the consultants — Kristin Bell as Jeannie, Ben Schwartz as Clyde, and Josh Lawson as Doug — travel to Doc Johnson’s actual production facility in order to better understand the business of pleasure.

The consultants are joined by Adam Brody as Nate, the incoming Doc Johnson CEO wishing to honor his father’s vision and commitment to American manufacturing in the current industry of competitors’ selling imported products made of sub-standard materials and at lower prices. The tour Brody’s character conducts takes the cast (and audience) through production area scenes, as dildos and other toys are poured, painted, and prepped.

Heavily featured is the Lucid Dream No. 14, which arrived in a Doc Johnson branded box sent to consultant Jeannie by Doc Johnson’s CEO in an attempt to convince Jeannie of his products’ quality. Unable to resist the allure of the renown No. 14’s G-spot head and multi-speed vibrations, Jeannie uses the product in her office and goes on to gush about its effectiveness later in the episode.

Many additional best-selling products are featured throughout the episode including the Noches Latinas Tetas Grandes, The Great American Challenge, Sasha Grey’s UR3 Deep Penetration Vibrating Pussy & Ass, the iVibe Rabbit, Mood Fantastic wand, WonderLand Pleasurepillar, and the classic Pocket Rocket Plus.

When an order from CalExotics arrived at one of our stores in Livermore, I wanted to help build the wall. After reorganizing it, I took a picture and asked ChatGPT what it thought of the wall. First, it noticed a gap in the top row and recommended adding a toy there or changing the spacing. Then it said, “I noticed there are some toys on the right that aren’t in boxes. You should take those down or put them in boxes.”
