ASACP Creates RTA Plugin for WordPress
WordPress is an open source content management system. It has many features including a plugin architecture and a templating system. Used by over 300 of the 10,000 biggest websites, WordPress is the most popular blogging software in use today. As of September 2009, it was being used by 202 million websites worldwide.
RTA was developed by ASACP out of a need for a free, easy to use, and internationally recognized label that designates content for adults only. The RTA label is a unique string of “meta data” which can be inserted into the computer code of any website. Parental filtering software recognizes the tag and prevents children from viewing adult content. Installing the RTA tag on a WordPress install can be somewhat complicated, so the Restricted to Adults plugin makes it one click — activate the plugin and your site is restricted to adults.
The RTA Plugin was developed by Saguaro Digital, a web and application development firm focused on the Adult Entertainment Industry. Saguaro Digital specializes in integrating complete solutions with existing products such as WordPress and volunteered to develop the RTA Plugin pro-bono to make it easier for webmasters to correctly label their content using just “one click”
RTA is already the industry standard for content labeling for adult webmaster that want to help parents protect their children from viewing age-restricted content. ASACP launched RTA in November 2006 and currently over 2.2 million sites are labeled with RTA and there are over 9 million in-links to www.RTAlabel.org.
Most of the parental control systems and Apple and Microsoft operating systems filter on this meta-tag.
ASACP and its Technology and Forensic Research Director Tim Henning worked with the adult industry to develop the RTA system and continue to make it easier for companies to label their sites with instructions for page, site or server level labeling. Last year ASACP launched the RTA Verified service which confirms that websites have been properly labeled with RTA. While RTA is free, RTA Verified costs a small fee. RTA Verified subscribers are also issued a special button and link to a verification page that lets you and your visitors know that your websites are properly labeled with the Restricted to Adults website labeling system.
In addition, RTA Works with Mobile. RTA operates with Safari, Internet Explorer and can work with any HTML browser that includes a parental control filtering system that recognizes the RTA Label; works if an adult APP uses an HTML page for purchase of the adult APP; works if an adult APP resides on a dedicated adult server that has placed the RTA meta-tag in its HTTP response headers and thus labeled all the content on that server as age- restricted; and operates with NetNanny Mobile. ASACP, along with a workgroup from the adult entertainment industry, continue to work on additional solutions for APPS and other delivery systems that help parents prevent their children from unknowingly viewing age-restricted content.
The only ASACP authorized and WordPress approved version of the RTA WordPress Plugin is available at:
