Generating Bzzz

New Sensations President Scott Taylor knew what he was up against when his well-established adult studio took a step into the unfamiliar world of adult novelties.

“We came as infants amongst experienced companies that have been around for decades,” Taylor said. “Our goal was to be different.”

According to Taylor, the company’s shift to novelties wasn’t something he originally planned, but still fell in line with the company’s trend of evolving.

“There was a series of steps within our videos — the parodies, the ‘Romance’ series,” he said. “It was a natural progression.”

A year and a half in the making, New Sensations’ foray into sex toys began with molds of performers Ashlynn Brooke and Shane Diesel — products desired by fans and the stars themselves, Taylor said.

The popularity of Christian Audigier’s Ed Hardy brand of tattoo-art inspired clothing and accessories moved Taylor to launch the Tatu line of vibrators, which currently includes the Sin and Lust vibes featuring original tattoo art provided by an artist.

Next, he said wanted to bank on a bestselling sex toy — the pocket rocket — by adding a new, unique style to the device that’s proven successful throughout the years.

Inspired by his love of anime and a trip through an airport gift shop where doe-eyed stuffed animals stared back at him, Taylor was drawn to the big, emotional eyes that never fail to arouse an “oh how cute” from people they encounter — particularly women.

“I have this idea that there is a little girl inside of every woman,” Taylor said. “They can’t resist things that are cute. That was when I started conceiving the Bzzz line.”

Bzzz Buddies so far include Pandy, Frisky, Shivers and Paws anime-inspired vibrators that feature collectable characters. The powerful compact vibrators are multi-speed, phthalate free, waterproof and lube friendly. The vibes include four interchangeable tips.

Consumers’ inclination to collect influenced Bzzz’s family of characters, Taylor said. Pandy, Frisky, Shivers and Paws each have personalities and stories to tell. Soon water-based friends Pokey the turtle, Ribbit the frog, Inkee the squid and Bubbles the fish will join them.

“I want to inspire collection not of vibes but of characters,” Taylor said, adding that he is currently in the process of creating an animated series of videos for BzzzBuddies.com, a mainstream approach to promoting people’s relationships with the products.

The Bzzz Buddies collection made its debut at the ANME Founders Show and was received with praise.

“We’ve received an overwhelmingly positive response,” Taylor said. “I’m interested to see where it takes us.”

He suggests that it may be headed toward mainstream based on the attention Bzzz Buddies has gotten so far and future plans include disassociating the novelty line from New Sensations’ brand of porn for more widespread appeal as the Bzzz Buddies family continues to grow.

“I have several more ideas for Bzzz Buddies characters,” Taylor said. “We may also do more molds — who knows where this will take us.”

One thing that’s for certain, Taylor said, is the company’s focus on producing high-quality, unique concepts that will stand out amongst the crowds.
