JQuery Block: Trying Image Manipulation

While jQuery is useful for enhancing user interaction and content display, it also makes things “prettier” when used appropriately.

For adult webmasters, combining this attractiveness with increased usefulness can take erotic image display to the next level as well as provide a range of additional benefits and uses for marketers.

Here is a sampling of useful jQuery applications with a focus on image manipulation:

jQuery Captify Plugin. Want to display eye-catching image captions on rollover? The jQuery Captify Plugin (www.thirdroute.com/projects/captify/) whose goal is to be “easy to use, small/simple, and completely ready for use in production environments,” will fill the bill and provides a number of intriguing possibilities for adult marketers.

Nivo Slider. Billed as “The Most Awesome jQuery Image Slider,” the lightweight Nivo Slider (nivo.dev7studios.com) offers a variety of transitions and flexible settings. It is crossbrowser compatible and supports image linking, plus control, directional and keyboard-based navigation, allowing for robust slideshow creation.

Nivo Zoom. A “jQuery Image Zoomer,” Nivo Zoom (nivozoom.dev7studios.com) offers five zoom types, an optional overlay and HTML captions. CSS classes control the way in which the image is zoomed, while a mouse click returns the image to its normal state.

Quicksand. Quicksand (www.razorjack.net/quicksand/) allows users to “reorder and filter items with a nice shuffling animation” that is useful for gallery navigation and thumb-based category selections, for example, and adds an extra level of “gee whiz” user engagement.

Sponsor Flip Wall. Intended to provide an easy way to display a website’s sponsors, Sponsor Flip Wall (www.tutorialzine.com/2010/03/sponsor-wall-flip-jquerycss/) organizes information so that the emphasis is on sponsors rather than on other design elements — but it also has a wide range of uses for creative marketers that go far beyond acknowledging supporters.

This selection of jQuery examples illustrates the creative range of digital expression enabled by the use of this simple scripting technology. Keep in mind, however, that this is all primarily eyecandy — unless a good dose of marketing is injected into the mix.

The Perils of Relying on ChatGPT for Legal Advice

It surprised me how many people admitted that they had used ChatGPT or similar services either to draft legal documents or to provide legal advice. “Surprised” is probably an understatement of my reaction to learning about this, as “horrified” more accurately describes my emotional response.
