BARCELONA — Erika Lust’s new feature “The Wedding,” co-starring Nicole Kitt and Dante Colle, premieres today on Lust Cinema
“The Wedding,” a rep explained, is Lust’s most expensive feature movie to date, “a hot and hilarious rom-com made with a total budget of 306,000 euros and showing anything but a traditional wedding ceremony.”
Described as “‘My Big Greek Fat Wedding’, but sexier,” the feature was written by Sally Fenaux Barleycorn and Edwin Osborne based on an idea by Lust.
Appearing alongside Kitt and Colle is an international cast featuring Maria Riot, Jade Kush, Romy Furie, Andi James, Jason Steel and Panterino.
“With a cast and crew of 134 people and 16 different nationalities regarding cast and crew, 108 people on set for the busiest shooting day, five sex scenes and a jazzy original soundtrack, Lust’s ‘The Wedding’ was created thanks to the work, creative contribution and perspectives of a mostly female crew, exploring pansexuality, non-monogamy and the stigmas around them through the female gaze,” the rep said.
In “The Wedding,” bride Diana (Nicole Kitt) and groom Lucas (Dante Colle) enjoy their free-spirited relationship in all its beauty and hilarity on their special day. But Jenna (Andi James), the groom’s mother, isn’t very accepting of her son’s sexuality and lifestyle. At the same time, other secret tensions among the guests might spur them to take their chance with the newlyweds.
“Who needs a traditional wedding when you can have a hot and pleasurable celebration full of unexpected twists and turns?” the synopsis reads. “With a bit of spice and lots of humor, this hilarious rom-com proves that even the most unconventional of unions can still find its happily ever after.”
“The Wedding” will have its cinematic premiere April 20 in Barcelona at the prestigious Phenomena Experience theatre.
“The making of this movie was a challenge,” said Lust. "It was raining on the first day on set, and we were shooting exteriors with no chance of changing the shooting plan. But rain on a wedding day is supposed to bring good luck. So the rest of the 10 days of shooting was a blast.”
Weather was not the only obstacle, Lust noted.
“We had many other challenges, like managing 60 extras/wedding guests and a massive crew of more than 40 people,” she said. “I am so proud of the cast — they worked with our acting coach and became their characters. The five sex scenes are among the hottest I have ever shot. I am also very proud of our amazing crew. I love working with a primarily all-female crew, which is always an enormous privilege. The female gaze is so needed in entertainment, especially in adult cinema.”
“The Wedding” is streaming on LustCinema.
