Mike Youtan, FlyntDigital’s vice president of business development, described the new pay-per-minute VOD venture as a clear answer to offering Hustler and VCA content to end users without requiring a monthly membership, while at the same time providing a strong potential revenue boost for webmasters with 40 percent payouts.
“While our paysites remain the standard by which the industry is judged, there is no doubt that different surfers have different needs," Youtan said.
The back-end for FlyntDigital's new VOD site will be provided by National A-1, which will handle the streaming and HustlerVOD web pages.
"We're providing pretty much everything but the billing," James Seibert, director of business development for National A-1, told XBiz.
"Pay-per-minute is perfectly suited for end users because it's what they want when they want it," Seibert said. "They can watch as much or as little of any given thing. If they only want to see particular types of sex acts, they can do so for very little cost."
National A-1, which has been in the industry for 15 years, is also the parent company of HotMovies.com, the company's flagship VOD site.
Seibert said his company markets its VOD back-end through VOD.com and counts TLA Video among its current list of clients. TLA is planning to integrate VOD into its existing affiliate store later this week, Seibert said.
"The VOD market is still not crowded and it's the perfect time for many companies," Seibert said. "VOD is definitely the future and Hustler saw that coming."
The new VOD site will also offer end users a ten-minute sample of available movies before they decide to make a purchase.
