Go Daddy Group to Offer 128-bit SSL Certificates

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - Domain name registrar Go Daddy Group Inc. announced today that website owners registered with its company are now able to take advantage of Turbo Secure Socket Layer (SSL) certificates, providing customers with the strongest encryption available on the open market.

Go Daddy’s 128-bit encryption certificates, used to create a “handshake” between websites and browsers for secure data transmissions, are provided through subsidiary Starfield Technologies Inc.

Certificates provided by Starfield have been awarded a WebTrust Seal of Assurance by both the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants, two independent North American regulatory groups.

Go Daddy also provides a $1,000 warranty for website customers who suffer financial loss as a result of negligently issued certificates.

"Until Go Daddy entered the market, only large companies could really afford to offer their customers secure online transactions because only large companies could afford the cost of having an SSL certificate," said Bob Parsons, president and founder of Go Daddy. "Now, Go Daddy's Turbo SSL certificates provide online businesses the competitive advantage that comes with having a secure connection but at one-tenth of the current standard market price."

The service is provided for $29.95 per year. Equal services provided by companies like Network Solutions can cost as much as $895 every year.

The Go Daddy Group is made up of three ICANN-accredited domain name registrars and manages 5.3 million domain names, roughly 9 percent of total domains currently registered on the Internet.
