John Stagliano to Debate in L.A. Times' 'Dust-Up'

LOS ANGELES — Evil Angel owner John Stagliano has been invited to debate issues concerning the adult industry in the Los Angeles Times' editorial section's debate feature, "Dust-Up."

Daily, from June 30-July 3, Stagliano and Pepperdine law professor Barry McDonald will answer questions posed by the Times editorial department, with each able to rebut the other's arguments in a point-counterpoint format.

McDonald has published several articles on the law governing freedom of expression in law journals including the Emory Law Journal, the Notre Dame Law Review and the Ohio State Law Journal. He served as a law clerk to Chief Justice William H. Rehnquist during the 1989-90 term of the U.S. Supreme Court.

From 1990-2000, McDonald worked for the U.S. Department of State, the law firm of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, and as general counsel to technology companies. He is secretary of the Mass Communications Section of the American Association of Law Schools.

Blogger Luke Ford and KTLA reporter Eric Spillman engaged in a Dust-Up last July.

The discussion starts Monday in the Los Angeles Times print and online editions.
