Smash Pictures Announces Eric John's 'Romance X'

LOS ANGELES — Smash Pictures has announced plans to release Eric John’s biggest project to date, “Romance X,” this Monday.

The high-end production also kicks off a new line for Smash, which already has the second and third volumes of “Romance X” in the works.

John produced, directed and performed in the all-sex title that stars Jessica Bangkok, La’Rin Lane, Mya Nichole, Stephanie Cane, Kenzi Marie and Rebeca Linares in Volume One.

“This is my statement movie,” John told XBIZ. “This is my stamp as a director.”

The prolific John, who debuted in 2004 and has been nominated for XBIZ Male Performer of the Year four times, appears in every sex scene, delivering an internal and external pop-shot in each one. Each encounter in "Romance X" is a boy/girl except for the bonus scene, which was a threeway with Marie, Linares and John.

All the scenes blend fantasy with romance and sensuality, according to John, who said his vision for the film was “like ‘Red Shoe Diaries’ but with actual sex. That kind of feel.”

“The original concept is a woman alone in an exotic location fantasizing about the perfect lover and visualizing it happening,” John said. “All the intro and transition shots are done with her imagining and moving with the invisible lover who then appears.”

Wyatt Case, the vice president of sales for Smash, told XBIZ the footage, which was all captured in HD, is stellar.

“I think it looks great,” Case said. “He put a lot of hard work and money into this. I expect it to do well just based off the packaging alone, but the content is strong and the stuff he shot is really good.

“We are already planning for two more.”

Volume 2 features Ann Marie Rios, Jaelyn Fox, Faith Leon and Brynn Tyler, while the third volume has scenes with Victoria Lawson, Tanner Mayes, Charley Chase and Jackie Daniels.

“Romance X” comes on the heels of Smash releasing Brandon Iron’s return to directing, “Shade X,” which also was the studio’s first interracial title of 2015.
