Girlfriends Films Supports Dana DeArmond, APAC for AIDS Walk LA

VALENCIA, Calif. — Girlfriends Films is extending its philanthropic endeavors for October to include two charities.

AIDS Walk LA will receive $500 in support of adult performer Dana DeArmond, who is participating in the event with Team APAC. A donation of $1,000 will also be presented to Prevent Blindness on behalf of company editor Brett.

AIDS Walk Los Angeles has drawn more than a half-million participants, who have collectively raised more than $72 million in its 27 years.

The event, which has served as a model of grassroots fundraising and community activism for organizations across the U.S., is sponsored by AIDS Project Los Angeles (APLA). It is dedicated to improving the lives of people affected by HIV disease, reducing the incidence of HIV infection and advocating for fair and effective HIV-related public policy.

DeArmond is participating in AIDS Walk LA with other members of the Adult Performer Advocacy Committee (APAC).  She said, “I was thrilled when the APAC board voted to make me the AIDS Walk LA Team leader. Our team has done an amazing job fund raising and recently surpassed $20,000 with the help of generous donations like the $500 from Girlfriends Films.”

“Girlfriends Films has always been on the forefront of charitable work for and with their employees and performers,” DeArmond said, adding that Girlfriends director B. Skow called her out for the ALS ice bucket challenge in August.

Founded in 1908, Prevent Blindness is a leading volunteer eye health and safety organization dedicated to fighting blindness and saving sight.

“I recently found out one of my friends was diagnosed with an eye condition causing her to slowly lose her vision,” Brett said.  “Furthering her pain is the fact her children have diagnosed with the same condition.”

Each month, Girlfriends Films turns to one of its employees or performers to select a charity to support.  In 2013, the Girlfriends Films Charity Program donated around $20,000 to an array of organizations, from medical institutes to animal sanctuaries.
