Phoenix Forum Panel to Focus on Legislative Challenges

Phoenix Forum Panel to Focus on Legislative Challenges

TEMPE, Ariz. —  The Free Speech Coalition and ASACP will jointly host a panel Saturday on the state of numerous legislative initiatives that should concern adult producers, distributors and pleasure product retailers.

About 30 different pieces of legislation have been introduced to censor or restrict the adult industry in the past two months, the groups said.

From state legislators voting for mandatory porn blocks to the U.K. banning the distribution of certain filmed sex acts and age-verification initiatives to the prospect of a renewed Obscenity Task Force at the Justice Department, the adult industry needs to be prepared for this full-scale attack on our rights, the groups said.

Saturday’s “Resistance and Resilience:  Legal and Policy Challenges in the New World Order” at The Phoenix Forum will include panelists Eric Paul Leue, executive director of the FSC; Tim Henning, executive director of ASACP; industry attorney Karen Tynan; and Siouxsie Q, the FSC’s director of policy and industry relations.

“We have not seen threats like these to the adult industry since the Meese Commission,” Leue said. “We’re facing hostile and restrictive legislation at home and abroad, and a Department of Justice that does not believe our industry deserves First Amendment protections.

“This is uncharted territory, and we encourage everyone in the industry to learn what threats we face, how to best protect yourself and your assets and what resources are available.”

Saturday’s “Resistance and Resilience:  Legal and Policy Challenges in the New World Order,” will be held at 11 a.m. through noon in the Palm C room at the Tempe Mission Palms.
