Bosnian Mayoral Hopeful Bounced From Race for Porn Campaign

ZENICA, Bosnia-Herzegovina — The Bosnian mayoral hopeful who used porn video clips in his campaign in an effort to lure voters was disqualified by election officials on Friday.

Independent candidate Mirad Hadziahmetovic said that despite being bounced out of the running, his campaign worked well.

So well in fact, the clips were viewed by so many viewers it crashed the candidate’s website.

He told ABC News that he would appeal the ruling and will know his fate this Wednesday or Thursday.

“The electoral commission ordered I remove adult (content) within three hours, so I did it.

“I made a name for myself with this provocative campaign and now people do know about my mayoral program,” Hadziahmetovic said.

The election is scheduled to take place in October in Zenica, Bosnia’s fourth-largest city.

Adult content was uploaded to the underdog candidate’s official campaign site after he realized the web attracts huge numbers of porn users.

Visitors had to answers such as “What is more important for Zenica, job creation or increasing the municipal budget through taxes?” in order to access the adult material.

At the end of each clip, a recorded video of Hadziahmetovic talking directly to camera says, “If you liked this clip, vote for me.”

Although his home city has a large Muslim population, the candidate did not speculate on whether it was porn or politics that prompted the election officals to pull the plug on his campaign.
