Army Soldier Accepts Plea in Porn Site Scandal

FORT BRAGG, N.C. — One of the seven U.S. Army paratroopers embroiled in a gay porn scandal has accepted a plea, reported the Fayetteville Times. The particulars of the plea deal were not disclosed at press time but will be made public on Thursday when the paratrooper must appear before a judge.

The website in question is ActiveDuty.com, which features military-themed adult material. The site claims “100 percent amateur, real military men.”

Custodian of records for the site is listed as D. Ashe of Fayetteville, N.C. A long list of disclaimers on the site’s entry page insist that visitors agree they are not agents of the U.S. government, lawyers for the Defense Department, affiliated with any law enforcement agency or reporters.

The soldier, Pfc. Richard Ashley and two others were charged with sodomy, pandering and engaging in sexual acts for money. Pfc. Wesley K. Mitten and Pvt. Kagen B. Mullen have pleaded not guilty. Mullen also was charged with adultery. All these offenses are violations of the Code of Military Conduct.

Four other soldiers were charged with the same offenses, but received non judicial punishments. In accordance with military rule, those names will not be released and the Army has recommended their discharge.

All seven soldiers were based out of Fort Bragg and were members of the 2nd Batallion of the 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, according to 82nd Airborne spokesperson James Wilt.
