Lucas Files Suit Against 65 Bit Torrent Users

DALLAS — Producer and performer Michael Lucas has filed suit seeking to put a halt to the file-sharing of "Missing," the gay suspense thriller filmed on location in Barcelona.

The suit, which targets 65 John Doe defendants, was filed at U.S. District Court in Dallas on Saturday, alleging that the individuals initiated their infringement on bit torrent site www.gay-torrents.net.

Lucas' attorney, Evan Stone of Dallas, said in the suit that he is hopeful that the IP addresses used in the bit torrent application will lead to the identification of each defendant’s true name through discovery.

"Plaintiff further believes that the information obtained in discovery will lead to the identification of additional infringing parties to be added to this complaint as defendants, since monitoring of online infringement of plaintiff’s motion picture is ongoing," he said.

The suit seeks an injunction against the defendants, as well as damages and attorneys fees.

“Missing,” released in May, stars Lucas Entertainment exclusives Diego Cruz, Pavlvs Guell, Bruno Jones, Ivan Rueda, Carlos Caballero, Sergio Serrano and Jean Franko, as well as Lucas.

The storyline centers around the kidnapping of a young traveler (Cruz) and the lengths his friends (Agassi and Lucas) must go through to get him back.

Lucas, upon release of the film, remarked that the shoot was "nothing we have done before overseas.”

“We chased our guys down dark alleys, kidnapped them, threw them in freezing water during the middle of winter and in the end they fucked harder than ever," he said. "I was amazed with the intensity that these guys delivered!”

Lucas, in discussing the suit with XBIZ, said that he has decided to take a "more forceful approach with these sites and their users" rather than a passive one.

"You only have to put Lucas Entertainment on a Google Alert to see the rampant piracy all over the Internet," he said. "I am always surprised that users would deal with torrent site and all the hassle that requires instead of streaming through LucasEntertainment.com, but I guess there are many people out there who have endless patience.

"Many sites are responsive and take down content once notified of a copyright violation but some are not," he said.
