Michael Lucas to Wed Partner in California

NEW YORK CITY — Director, performer and Lucas Entertainment CEO Michael Lucas will marry his partner later this month in a private ceremony in Los Angeles. He and fiancé Richard Winger have been together since late 2000.

West Hollywood Councilmember John Duran will officiate over the ceremony.

Winger, a businessman and President Emeritus of the New York LGBT Community Center, first met Lucas at a holiday party.

“I have loved Michael for eight years, and I look forward to reaffirming our love and our relationship,” he said.

The ceremony will additionally serve as a fundraiser for nonprofit Equality California, which advocates for civil rights on behalf of the LGBT community.

Equality California has been leading the No on Propositon 8 campaign in California, which would alter the state’s constitution to ban same-sex marriage.

“I’m very excited about the upcoming ceremony and I’m proud to be having it in a state that accepts our relationship. This is not only a declaration of our love, but a way to show that gay people can marry just like heterosexual couples,” Lucas said.

“While it’s difficult to believe these rights may be swept away by ignorance, it’s moments such as these when we need to come together and fight for a cause,” he added.

Lucas and Winger are based in New York City, and plan to commemorate their marriage with another ceremony there in November.
