XBIZ EU to Host 'The War on Porn' Panel

LONDON — XBIZ is pleased to announce the addition of "State of the Industry: The War on Porn" to the lineup of XBIZ EU, the international digital media conference to be held Sept. 22-25 in London.

"State of the Industry: The War on Porn," slated for Sept. 24 at 4 p.m., is anticipated to focus on the thorny and controversial topic of David Cameron's new plan to limit access to online pornography in the country.

Cameron and other U.K. officials have placed online porn on a crackdown list, and it appears that the porn-loving nation is on a collision course with censorship.

A stellar lineup comprising of leading U.K. industry attorney Myles Jackman, U.S. attorney Marc Randazza, Free Speech Coalition's Diane Duke and author and commentator Nichi Hodgson will discuss Cameron's plan and what's next for Briton, ranked as one of the top countries for Internet porn consumption.

"David Cameron wants to block access to porn unless people opt in, but is it possible to filter only the things you want?" asks Don Parret, XBIZ’s executive editorial director. "We'll take a close look at the mechanics of the regulatory plan, and discuss how it could play out. This session will be one of the highlights for our conference this year, and one not to be missed."

Jackman, one of the panelists, told XBIZ that the industry needs to galvanize efforts to put a stop to such regulation.

"Successive governments have mounted a sustained campaign against the U.K. porn industry and now's the time to fight back," Jackman said.

XBIZ EU returns to the Radisson Edwardian Bloomsbury Hotel in central London, where the international digital media conference originally debuted.

The conference brings together business leaders from around the globe for three days of cutting-edge market trend seminars and technology workshops featuring A-list guest speakers and networking special events.

For a limited time, members of XBIZ.net qualify for free or discounted event registration based on their area of business.
