GlobalAdultBilling is a British company that provides phone and SMS billing solutions worldwide. Normally the company charges $500 for new customers to set up an account.

“Through talking to lots of people at Internext, we found that many people were keen to adding alternative payment providers but were unsure how much it would benefit their business,” GlobalAdultBilling.com sales manager Scott Pattenden told XBIZ. “We were so confident in our product that we thought we would remove their excuses.”

For customers in the U.K., GlobalAdultBilling pays webmasters $1.50 per minute and has rates for every country in Europe. The rate in the U.S. is $1 a minute. The company also offers pay-per-minute options on trial memberships.

Pattenden said he believes adult webmasters can noticeably increase their traffic just by adding an alternative payment option to their site.

“We find that most people can increase their revenues by 10-15 percent simply by offering access to their site to the 60 percent of the globe that does not own a credit card,” Pattenden said. “Many people in the U.S. are unaware that they are losing out on customers in Europe where many highly developed countries like Germany still have very low levels of credit card penetration.”

Pattenden estimates that in Germany only one in three people currently have a credit card and that in the U.K. many are not able to get a credit card until they’re 21.

“In the U.S. everyone’s got a credit card, I think people get one at birth. But it’s very different outside of the U.S.,” Pattenden said. “The question that people need to be asking themselves is can they afford not to offer alternative billing.”

GlobalAdultBilling offers customers password-by-phone, pay-by-text and one-shot payment methods. The site also has a Tube Cash option that offers streaming videos or downloads with a pay-per-minute option where customers can pay per minute of viewing streaming videos or pay per minute to download content.

“People may think $30 a month is high, but won’t mind paying $1 a minute and staying online for 30 minutes,” Pattenden said. “GlobalAdultBilling is a great solution for VOD sites, to keep you from getting hit hard by the free tube sites.”
