White Tiger Releasing’s Spanky Does VH1
Bunim/Murray Productions, which is responsible for creating the popular reality shows “The Real World,” “Bad Girls Club” and “Keeping Up with the Kardashians,” produced the reality show, which features Academy Award nominated actress Terry Moore — who was also reclusive billionaire Howard Hughes’ first wife — and Gita Hall, one of the world’s first supermodels.
There are several half-hour episodes where the ladies participate in popular culture. They do a segment on Muslim life, hip-hop, gay pride, rehab, club culture and porn. Their fish-out-of-water immersion into those worlds is “often revelatory, sometimes shocking and always hilarious.”
Spanky is featured as a “sleazy Internet porn producer” and the ladies help him cast and shoot content.
“I met an old friend of mine on the way back from the Vegas show last year,” Spanky said. “He is a mainstream producer and asked if I’d be interested in participating in this reality show. I thought it would be fun.”
On day one of Spanky’s two-day shoot, he and the ladies interviewed prospective talent for the upcoming scenes. On day two, they shot three scenarios: a doctor/patient scene (where the ladies shot stills), a foot fetish scene and a dominatrix scene.
Porn star Dino Bravo performs in the doctor/patient scene.
“It was a hoot,” Spanky said. “These old ladies were whipping each other and Terry had her toes sucked on. We went to a fetish place in Van Nuys, Calif. to shoot the scenes.”
Moore, 77, was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in 1952’s “Come Back, Little Sheba” and starred in “Peyton Place” and 1949’s “Mighty Joe Young.”
Long romantically involved with billionaire Howard Hughes, Moore claimed after his death that they had secretly married in 1949 and never divorced. Although she could offer no definitive proof of her allegation, Hughes's estate paid her a settlement in 1984.
At the age of 55, she appeared nude in the August 1984 issue of Playboy magazine.
Hall, 72, was crowned “Miss Stockholm” in 1952.
A model and jet-setting personality in the 1950s, she was discovered for Hollywood films by columnist Walter Winchell.
In 1958, she secretly married actor Barry Sullivan, and they had a tumultuous marriage that produced one daughter. She later married insurance broker Mitchell May III and had two children.
Both women have known each other since the early 1950s.
“It’s bizarre,” Spanky told XBIZ. “These women reminded me so much of my mother’s friends. She was a realtor, one of those classy broads. It was kind of appalling to engage in this kind of stuff with someone who reminds me of my mother.”
At press time, “Old Skool with Terry and Gita,” which is hyped by Bunim/Murray Productions as “’The Golden Girls’ meets ‘Borat,’” has no air date.
