Federal Judge Keeps Joe Francis From Phoenix Forum
Tod Hunter
RENO, Nev. — A federal judge has denied a motion by lawyers for "Girls Gone Wild" founder Joe Francis requesting that Francis be allowed to attend the Phoenix Forum this week.

"It doesn't appear to the court that the trip has a valid business purpose," U.S. Magistrate Robert McQuaid said.

"Girls Gone Wild" is a co-sponsor of the Phoenix Forum.

Francis has been restricted to traveling between Southern California and Reno since March 10. In his ruling issued Monday, however, McQuaid extended Francis' ability to travel to include San Francisco, so he can confer with his tax attorneys.

Francis' trial on tax evasion charges is set for August.
