Jenna In Legal Battle With Publisher
Judith Regan’s ReganBooks, which published Jameson’s bestselling “How to Make Love like a Porn Star: A Cautionary Tale,” claims its contract with the star specifically included a reality show, a one-hour special about the book, and “similar projects.”
Jay Grdina, Jameson’s husband and business manager, disagrees. He had been negotiating with cable network A&E for months, he said, for a Jameson reality series that was not covered by the ReganBooks contract.
ReganMedia, the parent company of the ReganBooks imprint, is moving from New York to Los Angeles, Regan said, because most of its authors live on the West Coast. ReganMedia is expanding into the entertainment industry as well, having already created and produced A&E’s reality show “Growing Up Gotti,” which was recently renewed for 40 episodes.
Regan’s other authors include Michael Moore, Jose Canseco, and Gen. Tommy Franks. Her relationship with New York City Police Commissioner Bernard Kerik was publicized in his failed bid for Secretary of Homeland Security, and a recent Vanity Fair article quoted a former friend as calling Regan “the highest-functioning deranged person I’ve ever known.”
Jameson has recently renewed her contract with Vivid for seven years. Representatives of ClubJenna and ReganBooks did not immediately return phone calls for this story.
