AVN Novelty Expo Starts Today

LOS ANGELES — The AVN Novelty Expo opens today with exhibitors at the Sheraton Universal Hotel and the Hilton at Universal City, adjacent to Universal Studios and the CityWalk Entertainment Complex. The Expo takes place July 16–18.

The show features 134 exhibitors from companies including Ben Wa Novelty, California Exotic Novelties, Doc Johnson, The Stockroom, Topco Sales, Good Vibrations, Tantus Silicone, Fun Factory, Pjur Group USA, Pipedream Products, Phallix Glass, Kama Sutra and OhMiBod, among others.

One seminar will be presented on each day of the show. Today’s seminar is titled “The Future Is Now: Meeting Your Customer’s Needs by Anticipating Sexual Trends and Educating Your Staff.” California Exotics’ Al Bloom, Charlie Glickman of Good Vibrations, and Sportsheets Vice President Julie Stewart are to speak.

Tuesday’s seminar will be “Retailer Bootcamp.” Fairvilla Megastores Tom Berger, Doc Johnson’s Ken Dorfman, Peekay Inc. founder Phyllis Heppenstall and Loving Enterprises’ Sherri Williams are featured panelists.

On Wednesday, the topic is “Everything You Ever Needed to Know About Sex Toy Materials But Where Afraid to Ask.” Topco Sales’ Timothy Crawford will appear on the panel with Freddy And Eddy’s Ian Denchasy.

Special events include the Lover’s Choice VIP Cocktail Reception to be held Monday at 5:30 p.m. Legislative consultant Robert Rabin will give a special workshop on the topic of sex toy bans, scheduled for 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Hustler founder Larry Flynt will open the Free Speech Coalition’s All-American Membership Meeting that will be held at 5:30 pm on Tuesday. The meeting also will feature an “Ex-Presidential Debate,” with former FSC presidents Julie Stewart, Gloria Leonard, Nicholas Boyias, Scott Tucker and current president Jim Everett appearing on the panel.
