The event, Sunlove says, promises a blend of mainstream and porn, with actress Susan Sarandon and two California legislators, Assemblymember Paul Koretz and Sen. John Vasconcellos, agreeing to honorary co-chair the festivities.
Porn star Jenna Jameson will be honored as the “Celebrity Freedom Fighter,” as will Gary Kremen, who successfully sued Network Solutions for failing to investigate the fraudulent documents that turned Kremen's domain, Sex.com, over to a third party.
Steve Orenstein, founder of Wicked Pictures, whose couples-friendly productions have garnered dozens of industry awards, also will be honored. So will Chip Daniels, a 12-year acting veteran and co-founder of gay porn Centaur Films, and video director Chi-Chi LaRue.
The Free Speech Coalition, which serves as a trade association of the adult entertainment industry, also will honor Vivid contract performer Christy Canyon, who recently penned her autobiography; actor Jesse Adams; and Carter Stevens, known best for directing VCA's “Roller Babies.”
This year's event will honor Luther "Luke" Campbell, one of the founders of 2 Live Crew, the musical group that inspired some forms of censorship.
“Night of the Stars” will take place on Saturday, July 24, at the Sheraton Universal Hotel in Universal City. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. It will include wandering musicians, a silent auction and live music.
