AdamAndEve.com Surveys Customers on Sexless Marriages

HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. — AdamAndEve.com is back this month with new results from its annual sex survey in which the company asked more than 1,000 adults if they would be open to having a sexless relationship.

Twenty-one percent of those polled said that they would be open to having a sexless marriage, while 63 percent of the respondents said they would not be open to it and 16 percent were undecided.

Of these, more men than women (22 percent versus 20 percent) were open to a sexless relationship, while 17 percent of the women versus 15 percent of the men were unsure.

“There are numerous reasons a sexless marriage may occur including illness, resentment, stress and boredom,” AdamAndEve.com sexpert Dr. Kat Van Kirk said. “Lovemaking is an integral part of marriage, and when one partner desires intimacy and the other one does not, oftentimes breakdown occurs.”

“We all know that communication is key,” continues Dr. Kat. “However, in the case of sexless marriage, which is defined as sex less than 10 times a year, communication is paramount.”

The web-based survey, conducted by an independent third party survey company, of more than 1,000 American adults age 18 and up, was sponsored by Adam & Eve to study sexual preferences and practices.
