PORTLAND, Ore. — Hundreds of lifelike dildos have been spotted hanging from power lines across the Northwest city of Portland, Ore.

But their origins remain a mystery.

First sightings of the dangling sex toys — appearing commonly in pairs as they’ve been strung together in order to wrap themselves around hanging power lines — were reported late last month but more have appeared in recent days.

"You could spot them in several intersections and you could see all sorts of reactions to them," Portland resident Lucila Cejas Epple told Reuters. "Some would blush, others would laugh, and most would take photos."

A spokesman for Portland General Electric claims that the hanging dildos do not pose a fire hazard.
