TMZ: War Machine Attempts Suicide in Jail

John Sanford

LAS VEGAS — War Machine tried to hang himself in his Las Vegas jail cell this week, but his attempt was foiled by a corrections officer, TMZ reported today.

Citing unnamed law enforcement sources, TMZ said War Machine was seen unresponsive in his cell at Clark County Jail on Tuesday night.

"The officer saw him sitting on the ground with his feet up on the bunk bed. When the officer called to him he was unresponsive," TMZ reported. "The officer went into the cell and found the ex-MMA fighter had a piece of linen around his neck which was tied to the leg of the bed — and his face was purple. The officer cut the linen, removed it ... and we're told War Machine's breathing became less strained and he attempted to speak."

He is in a medical isolation cell on suicide watch, according to TMZ, which also reported that sources informed them of "what appeared to be a suicide note in the cell."

The former fighter and adult performer is facing 32 felony charges, including two counts of attempted murder, for the alleged assault on adult film star Christy Mack and her friend Corey Thomas in August.
