DMM Announces R18.com, English Site for Japanese Content

TOKYO — DMM.com, creator and operator of the leading Japanese adult site DMM.co.jp, announced the pre-launch of a new English localized site, R18.com.

R18 is intended to give English speaking users an opportunity to more easily surf for Japanese adult content.DMM.com’s current catalog of Japanese movies is comprised of more than 220,000 videos, which will be published on R18.com.

The site will launch with approximately 150,000 videos and will be expanded to 200,000 videos within three months, DMM reps said. In addition to hundreds of categories of movies, there will be around 5,000 available hentai comics translated into English.

“We are really excited to be able to share Japanese content with English speaking users, most of which has never been seen outside of Asia before,” said Alain Garcia Bariel, manager of the R18.com website.

The Japanese adult entertainment industry is the largest outside of North America. However, Bariel explains, it has largely remained inaccessible to non-Japanese speaking users.

Jun Takumiya, managing director at DMM.com, commented “R18.com will give users exclusive access to the largest Japanese library, unmatched by any other marketplace on the web.”

The complete R18.com site will launch this spring.
