NEW YORK — “Fifty Shades of Grey” author E.L. James spoke Monday night about her next writing project while attending a media event in New York City to promote a “Fifty Shades” inspired soundtrack.

James said her new book would not be another “Fifty Shades” volume, but instead a rewrite of her very first erotic novel, a story she says she wants “out of her head” and describes as “more fun” than the “Fifty Shades” trilogy.

The first-time novelist also expressed interest in writing a supernatural love story.

“"I also have another thing, which isn't an erotic tale, “James said. “It's more of a paranormal romance, which I'd really like to do as well."

“Fifty Shades of Grey,” the tale of young billionaire Christian Grey’s sexual ownership of  college virgin Anastasia Steele, has sold more than 30 million copies in the U.S. and more than 10 million in the U.K.

The book and its sequels “Fifty Shades Darker” and “Fifty Shades Freed” have been permanent fixtures on the New York Times Best Sellers list.

According to Book&Reviews.com, James has not ruled out writing a fourth “Fifty Shades” novel.

“I left them in a really, really good place, but there seems to be lots of people clamoring for a fourth book in the trilogy," James said. “We’ll see.”
