LOS ANGELES — There have been no additional cases of syphilis reported among the adult performer community in Budapest, Hungary, according to two top agents who attended a meeting of producers and talent that was called to discuss the status of an outbreak earlier this week.
The adult production community in Budapest assessed the situation in a meeting on Thursday at Interlabor, the main STI testing facility in the city, which is one of the porn-shooting capitals of Europe. The current moratorium on shooting, which was instituted as a result of at least 16 reported cases of syphilis this week, will remain in effect until Aug. 21, the agents told XBIZ.
"The business stops until the 21st of August for sure," said Eszter, co-owner of Brill Babes, one of the primary talent agencies in Budapest. "For the moment they found no more positive people for syphilis. If it stays like this we keep the original deadline."
Cameron of Sandy's Models, another leading agency in the city, told XBIZ that each of the current performers infected is receiving treatment.
"The laboratory said we caught it at the beginning, so we should be ok at the end August," Cameron said.
Rumors circulating this week that the infection may be spreading to the L.A.-based performer community appear thus far to be unfounded.
