MACAU — Playboy Enterprises has terminated its agreement with Sands China Ltd. that would have created a Playboy Mansion Macau entertainment complex.

The deal ended quietly last month, reportedly on good terms between both parties, according to the Macua Daily Times.

Both parties said they’ve decided to “explore new opportunities in reaching Macau’s visitors.”

If the project would have moved forward, the 30,000 square foot Mansion — modeled after Playboy founder Hugh Hefner’s Holmby Hills, California estate — would have included bars, lounges, gaming, retail stores and a nightclub in the popular Cotai tourist district.

Sand’s assets include The Venetian Macao, The Sands Macao and The Plaza Macao, which features The Four Seasons Hotel Macao and The Plaza Casino.

The company is a subsidiary of the Las Vegas Sands Corp.

Playboy’s agreement with Sands China began with the opening of a 12,000-square-foot entertainment area at the top of Sands Macau casino that was recently moved to the “Bellini” club at the Venetian Macau resort.
