FSC Teams With HotMovies, Studios for 2257 Fundraiser

CANOGA PARK, Calif. – The Free Speech Coalition announced Monday that it is working with HotMovies.com to produce a one-day fundraising event – FreedomStreams ’06 – with proceeds earmarked for the 2257 Legal Defense Fund.

HotMovies has designated one day — April 18 — during which participating studios will donate their HotMovies.com profits to the FSC. HotMovies will match the money raised that day.

Elegant Angel, Pleasure Productions, Platinum X, Matrix Content and Red Light District are among studios that already have offered to participate in FreedomStreams ’06.

“This is such a really great idea; HotMovies came up with the plan,” FSC Communications Director Tom Hymes said. “They are taking the lead, and I wouldn’t see why we couldn’t double the number of studios that have pledged support.

“The way to raise money for the fund is a collective effort,” said Hymes, who noted that the FSC has spent nearly $250,000 in litigating over its battle against the Justice Department stemming from new federal labeling and record-keeping regulations targeting the adult industry.

HotMovies and the Free Speech Coalition are actively seeking the participation of other studios, Hymes said.

For details or to sign up, contact the FSC’s Scott Lowther at (866) FSC-9373 or C.J. Cox from HotMovies.com at (800) 611-MOVIE.
