Wasteland.com Receives XBIZ Award; Rowntree Earns FSC Leadership Honor

BOSTON — Wasteland.com was named Specialty Site of the Year at the ninth annual XBIZ Awards held Feb. 9 at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles. The award follows the company's 2010 XBIZ Award for Excellence in Alternative Erotica.

"We are very pleased to receive this award," Rowntree said. "We have worked very hard to create a compelling experience for our members by providing first class movie production, award-winning photography and a true sense of community for real BDSM players. We are delighted to be held in such high regard by our peers and colleagues and are grateful for the support of our members and partners and the continuing dedication of our staff.”

Rowntree also received the 2011 Free Speech Coalition Leadership Award, which was presented to him at the award show.

“FSC’s Leadership Award is presented to the adult entertainment industry business or individual who demonstrates excellence in the adult entertainment industry in leading by example,” FSC executive director Diane Duke said. “Colin demonstrates leadership and excellence in all that he does whether it be how he runs his business, or the contributions he makes to the adult industry overall.”

“To receive the FSC Leadership award is an immense honor for me” Rowntree said. “Since starting Wasteland.com in 1994, I’ve seen the adult entertainment industry develop and change dramatically and have truly enjoyed being an active part in its metamorphosis, being a mentor to many coming into the industry over the years, and striving to provide a positive example of artistic and ethical practices. My gracious thanks to Diane and the FSC for this wonderful recognition.”

Wasteland has been delivering world-class BDSM erotica since 1994 and is renowned for its sales-friendly, high-art approach to BDSM, fetish and niche content.
