AHF Plans to Picket XBIZ Awards Tonight

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — The AIDS Healthcare Foundations says it will picket the 9th Annual XBIZ Awards tonight.

The announcement made just two hours before the start of the awards is more than just a rally involving 50-some AHF activists in front of the ceremony.

AHF says it will place three HIV testing vans placed around the entrance to the awards ceremony at the corner of Sunset Boulevard and Argyle Avenue to offer free testing services, condoms and safer-sex messages to XBIZ Awards attendees as well as the general public.

AHF says during the rally and protest, the safer sex advocates will specifically target adult film producers Larry Flynt of Hustler/LFP and Steve Hirsch of Vivid Entertainment for pressure.

“Flynt and Hirsch are both longstanding and vocal critics of safer-sex measures and condom use in their adult film productions,” said Michael Weinstein, president of AHF. “We decided to bring this message about adult film worker safety to the XBIZ Awards to educate the stars, producers and the general public attending tonight.”
