Pipedream’s Kinky Kim Sparks Controversy

LOS ANGELES — Pipedream Products’s latest Kinky Kim blow-up doll is creating buzz in mainstream media, indicating the doll is modeled after celebrity Kim Kardashian and spoofs the Carl’s Jr. ad she did last year endorsing its salad line.

Kinky Kim’s box cover shows a dark-haired model sitting on a bed, dressed in black lace lingerie, eating a cheeseburger.

“We make no reference to Carl’s Jr.,” Pipedream’s CEO Nick Orlandino told XBIZ. “The box cover has nothing to do with her [Kardashian]. It’s simply a coincidence that it looks like her.”

Orlandino said the similarity is “just a coincidence” and the only thing that may reflect Carls’ Jr. is that the model is eating a cheeseburger.

Though he doesn’t mind all the attention, Orlandino said any reference to the Carl’s Jr. commercial has been manufactured by the media.

Reports say that Kardashian will not be pleased with the doll a spokesperson for Carl’s Jr. said the company is looking into taking legal action against Pipedream.

Orlandino said he’s been in the blow-up doll business for a while and knows what he can and can’t get away with.

He said Kinky Kim is almost out of stock and plans to release another blow-up doll soon.
