Playboy Taps New Associate Publisher

NEW YORK – Playboy Enterprises announced Tuesday it has appointed Jonathan S. Schwartz to the position of associate publisher of Playboy magazine and the company’s digital initiatives.

The announcement was made by Diane Silberstein, vice president and publisher of Playboy.

"We are delighted to have Jonathan assume this key position," Silberstein said. "With his diverse sales experience on both the agency and publishing side, Jonathan is well positioned to lead the magazine's sales team in a progressive way and oversee the new advertising opportunities available provided by our digital offerings."

The hiring of Schwartz coincides with Playboy’s expanded reach into adult mobile, the launch of the digital edition of Playboy, and an overall increase in advertising, the company said.

Schwartz will work to build digital advertising revenue for Playboy and manage the added sales opportunities presented by these initiatives, Silberstein said, broadening Playboy's reach into the male demographic.

Schwartz joins Playboy from Entrepreneur Media where he served as eastern advertising director based in New York. During his tenure, he also held the position of western advertising director based in San Francisco of Entrepreneur Magazine and its online division. Previously, he held the positions of West Coast sales director of MaxOnline, vice president and associate group publisher west of Standard Media International.

Schwartz will be based at Playboy’s New York headquarters.
