Canon’s New EOS-1D X Takes Top HDSLR Honors

Canon has a long held reputation for quality cameras and lenses, some of which have found their way into adult production environments. Indeed, its flagship EOS-1D model has earned much respect from pro shooters over the years — photographers who will love the latest incarnation of this well-proven camera.

Calling it “The Ultimate EOS,” Canon says it has brought the best of the EOS-1D line of digital cameras together to create its new flagship model, the EOS-1D X.

Featuring a full-frame 18.1 megapixel CMOS sensor and new Dual DIGIC 5+ Image Processors that provide high quality image capture of up to 14 fps in Super High Speed Mode (12fps in standard mode), the EOS-1D X also offers an ISO range of 100 to 51200, with the H2 mode boosting the ISO all the way up to 204800, creating “sharp, low-noise images even in the dimmest low-light conditions.”

“An all-new, 61-Point High-Density Reticular AF and 100,000-pixel RGB Metering Sensor that uses a dedicated DIGIC Image Processor, makes the EOS-1D X reach new levels of focus speed and accuracy delivering advanced tracking even for the most challenging shooting situations,” states a Canon rep. “Taken all together, the EOS-1D X’s improved HD video capture, numerous connectivity options, combination of processing power and durable construction, including shutter durability tested to 400,000 cycles, makes it the ultimate EOS.”

Canon’s EOS-1D X is expected to street in early 2012, a price is not yet available.
