Report: XBiz award desirable

When you get right down to it, the adult industry has transitioned to a 12-month awards season model and, were the business to move to Neptune, there would soon be 163 times more adult awards shows as the eighth planet made its wider loop around the Sun.

Regardless, insouciant upstart XBiz has announced nominations for its fifth annual awards show, to take place February 8 at the haunted Roosevelt Hotel, conveniently located near California Pizza Kitchen.

As in past years, hundreds of adult entertainment companies will compete for the desirable XBIZ Award, which is awarded based on innovation and excellence within the industry.

Myself, I am actively innovating ways of avoiding excellence.

The XBiz Awards are more business-y in that there is no award for Best Picture but instead there are awards for Best Studio, Affiliate Program of the Year, Internet Payment Solutions Provider of the Year, etc.

There is also a Crossover Move of the Year, which I always find a dubious achievement; awards like that do less to narrow the divide between mainstream and adult entertainment and business than they do to illuminate the gap.

The Gap is also across the street from the Roosevelt Hotel. Coincidence? Probably.

You can find an award form here.

Home to the first Academy Awards ceremony, the Roosevelt Hotel allegedly is haunted by the ghost of Montgomery Clift, who may be on hand to present the GLBT award.
